Poker has become world celebrated as of late, with televised competitions and celebrity poker game shows. Its universal appeal, though, stretches back in fact a bit further than its TV scores. Over the years many variations on the original poker game have been created, including a handful of games that are not in fact poker anymore. Caribbean stud poker is one of these particular games. Regardless of the name, Caribbean stud poker is most closely related to 21 than old guard poker, in that the players wager against the dealer instead of the other players. The succeeding hands, are the long-standing poker hands. There is no concealment or different kinds of deception. In Caribbean stud poker, you are expected to pay up prior to the dealer declares "No further wagers." At that moment, both you and the bank and of course all of the other players are given five cards each. After you have looked at your hand and the casino’s first card, you must in turn make a call wager or accede. The call bet’s value is equal to your original bet, meaning that the risks will have increased two fold. Surrendering means that your wager goes directly to the dealer. After the bet comes the conclusion. If the house doesn’t have ace/king or greater, your wager is given back, plus an amount on par with the ante. If the casino has a hand with ace/king or greater, you win if your hand beats the dealer’s hand. The dealer pays cash equal to your wager and set odds on your call bet. These expectations are:
- Even for a pair or high card
- two to one for two pairs
- 3-1 for three of a kind
- 4-1 for a straight
- five to one for a flush
- 7-1 for a full house
- 20-1 for a 4 of a kind
- fifty to one for a straight flush
