NL Texas Holdem Poker- Who is Howard Lederer?

Howard Lederer lived in a family of five where he enjoyed betting on different card games at a young age. He discovered himself becoming really aggressive in the above-mentioned card games while competing against his father. After finishing secondary school, Howard decided to put higher education on hold for a little while and headed to New York City to compete in some serious chess. While competing in chess, he was introduced to a poker game taking place in the back of the room. Howard’s first 2 years were difficult as he would play many hours and lost a majority of the time. He made some additional money by being an runner for the poker enthusiasts. He judged he could boost his game by analyzing his life outside of poker. He made an effort to acquire more sleep and focus more on the game.

The definite advancement in his game began when he started playing at the Mayfair Club in New York City. The Mayfair was a bridge and backgammon club where the the most favorable players would regularly challenge one another. He had access into some of the greatest players in chess. With their assistance, he would hone his strategic thinking techniques. He used these strategic concepts in the game of NL hold’em.

He also helped his sibling Annie Duke master poker. Annie was an excellent student of poker as she constantly asked questions about how to make the proper choice. Howard Lederer told Annie to move out to Sin City and compete in the World Series of Poker competition. Annie Duke is one of the best female players the poker world has ever seen. Howard headed to Las Vegas in 1993 and participated in money games for the next 10 years. When the WPT grew in popularity, he decided to compete in more tournaments.
