Net High Stakes Poker- Who is Gus Hansen?
by Alejandro on November 28th, 2020
Gus Hansen had a marvelous year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only participant to make it to the last game in three of the events. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You may recall one of the largest pots in big stakes poker history competing against Daniel Negreanu. He secured a massive pot with 4 of a kind against Negreanu’s full house. Hansen has made many tv poker appearances and is thought to be one of the strongest players around the world. While gambling on net poker, a different side of Hansen has been seen. Gus often plays in the 200/400 No Limit maximum buy in of Forty Thousand dollars. Hansen frequently buys-in for the minimum of Sixteen Thousand dollars and plays very weak. He waits patiently for a decent hand and then pushes all in. I believe Gus is an outstanding poker player but not even close to the everyday players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is penniless, he has no reason to settle at the game with the minimum buy in.
Playing for the minimum takes most of the expertise out of deep stack poker. Gus is assumed to be one of the greatest poker players anywhere in the world but he cannot buy-in for the total amt.. I think television can skew our perception of the real world at times. The best players anywhere in the world might just be guys you have will not have heard about. Gus can be found betting on online poker on Full Tilt. He usually competes in high stakes omaha hi-low and Holdem. Gus has shown himself as a tournament player. Can he back up his talents in cash rounds?
