Phil Ivey has been referred to as the number one poker player on the planet by quite a few of the top pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before reaching turning 1. His papa taught him penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was hooked on poker and wanted to learn everything he could about the game. He routinely told his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn’t allow the adverse comments from other people kill his dream of being one of the strongest poker players on the planet.

He began playing intently after acquiring a false ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his abilities at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The first few years for Phil were a learning opportunity and winning was not a common outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved 2 final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the final table he destroyed quite a few of the better known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Vegas. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his success to dedication and a continuing love for the game of poker. Phil says that he’s picking up skills every day and is incredibly humble about his accomplishments. He admits to making errors in each game of poker and always aspires to get better.

Despite the fact that Ivey has won some large tournaments, he likes winning money games on a regular basis.
