No-Limit Texas Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker contender on the globe by many of the top pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before his first birthday. His grandfather taught Phil penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was hooked on poker and wished to learn whatever he possibly could about the game. Phil would tell his elders that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He did not allow the detrimental comments from other people destroy his dream of being one of the best poker competitors in the world.

Phil started playing intently after getting a false ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his game at the casinos of Atlantic City. The initial number of years for him were a learning experience and winning was not a regular outcome at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved 2 final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the closing table he destroyed many of the better known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his game to the next level and headed out west to Vegas. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his success to hard work and an eternal love for poker. Phil states that he is learning every day and is quite abashed about his achievements. Phil admits to making blunders in each game of poker and constantly strives to improve.

Despite the fact that Ivey has come first in some big tournaments, he favors destroying money games on a normal basis.
