NL Texas Hold’em Poker- Who is Howard Lederer?

Howard Lederer grew up in a family of 5 where he enjoyed gambling on numerous card games when he was young. He discovered himself becoming very competitive in these card games while competing against his father. After finishing Sr. High school, Howard decided to place college on hold for a little while and relocated to New York City to participate in some big-time chess. While playing chess, he was brought in to a poker game going on in the back of the room. Howard’s first 2 years were rough as he played countless hours and fail to win most times. He made some extra money by being an assistant for the poker enthusiasts. He theorized he might boost his game by analyzing his life outside of poker. He made an attempt to acquire more sleep and focus more on poker.
The real advancement in his game began when he began wagering at the Mayfair Club in New York. The Mayfair was a bridge and backgammon club where the best gamblers would often challenge one another. He had access into a few of the greatest minds in chess. With their help, Howard Lederer would hone his strategic thinking abilities. Howard used these strategy ideas in the game of NL texas hold’em.
Howard Lederer also assisted his sister Annie Duke learn the game of poker. Annie Duke was a great student of the game as she constantly asked questions about how to make the proper decision. Howard Lederer told Annie to move out to Sin City and compete in the World Series of Poker competition. Annie Duke is one of the best women players the poker arena today. Howard Lederer relocated to Las Vegas in 1993 and competed in cash games for the successive decade. When the World Poker Tournament gained popularity, Howard made the decision to participate in more tournaments.
